Etiquette…

I often find myself frustrated when surrounded by others who lack basic etiquette. During my upbringing, my parents, especially my Dad, emphasized the importance of proper manners. There was never a "yeah" or "mhm"; it was always "yes," and depending on the scenario, it might have been "yes, sir." I was a stubborn child and challenged his authority by purposely doing the opposite. However, in public, I consistently adhered to the etiquette he taught me because I knew better.
I was taught formal greetings such as "Good Afternoon, (Sir or Ma’am)" accompanied by eye contact, a handshake, and a smile. Now, working in customer service, I find myself assessing customers and employees based on their manners and etiquette. Unfortunately, I've observed a decline in both proper etiquette and manners over time.
Why are these skills becoming a thing of the past?
